Georgia is not a Nursing Licensure Compact State.

Prescriptive Authority in Georgia

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses may apply for prescriptive authority for Schedule III-V controlled substances in collaboration with a physician.

Georgia Nursing Licensure Renewal

License is required through the Georgia Board of Nursing every two years. Starting with licenses expiring in January of 2016, nurses must meet one of 5 continuing competence requirements in order to renew their license: 30 continuing education hours, maintenance of certification by a national certifying body, completion of an accredited academic nursing program, verification of competency at a facility with 500 hours worked, or completion of a board reentry program or nursing education program.
