Prescriptive Authority in Wyoming

According to the Wyoming state legislature on nurses, advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) may apply for prescriptive authority of controlled substances under schedules II to V.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Wyoming

APRN in Wisconsin is defined as certified nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, certified nurse-midwives, and clinical nurse specialists.

Education: Master’s degree or higher in nursing with a clinical specialty or advanced practice registered nurse specialty.

Examination: Varies according to specialty area.

Certification Required: Varies according to specialty area, but must include Registered Nurse license.

Fees:

  • $250 Application Fee by Examination
  • $255 Application Fee by Endorsement

  • Criminal Background Check/Fingerprint Cards: $60

Renewal: APRN licenses are renewed biennially and must provide proof of current, active national certification with three additional hours of continuing education related to prescribing controlled substances for prescriptive authority.
